Collectively, America's 230 million drivers have a great impact on themselves and on our nation: How much CO2 is emitted into the atmosphere that impacts our climate. How much fossil fuel energy is consumed. The air quality and health impact. The amount of money spent in fuel use, maintenance, and repairs. And how safe we are as drivers.
In the interest of reducing transportation GHG emissions and improving air quality, Green Driving America is committed to helping drivers make transportation choices that will benefit the planet and themselves. Embracing the driving of clean vehicles, idle reduction and other smart driving practices, and alternatives to driving begins by exploring our TIPS and this website.
Green Driving America is excited to be focused on a school community project in several states for the 2025 and 2026, and the development of a new Vermont project for 2026 and beyond:
• Schools Are Not Drive-Thrus©project: currently for California and Vermont—engages schools in idle-free schools studies/campaigns to reduce the harm and waste of largely unnecessary vehicle idling on school grounds!
• Smart Driving–Every Mile Counts© project: with a planned rollout for spring 2026, Vermont Town Energy Committee audiences will be shown the benefits of smart driving practices to reduce emissions, improve air quality, and save money!
