Collectively, America's 230 million drivers have a great impact on themselves and on our nation: How much CO2 is emitted into the atmosphere that impacts our climate. How much fossil fuel energy is consumed. The air quality and health impact. The amount of money spent in fuel use, maintenance, and repairs. And how safe we are as drivers.
In the interest of reducing transportation GHG emissions and improving air quality, Green Driving America is committed to helping drivers make transportation choices that will benefit the planet and themselves. Embracing the driving of clean vehicles, idle reduction and other smart driving practices, and alternatives to driving begins by exploring our TIPS and this website.
For 2026 and beyond, Green Driving America continues to be focused on a school community project in several states, and the development of a new Vermont project:
• Schools Are Not Drive-Thrus© project—currently operating in California and Vermont—engages schools in student-led, measured idle-free studies/campaigns to reduce the harm and waste of largely unnecessary vehicle idling on school grounds!
• Smart Driving–Every Mile Counts© project: with a planned roll out for 2027, Vermont Town Energy Committee audiences will be shown the win-win-win benefits of smart driving practices: reducing emissions, improving air quality, and saving money!
